Starter grades only The AFC West remains one of the most top heavy divisions in the NFL, but there’s more separation here than people might expect. After the draft, here’s how each roster stacks up.

1. Denver Broncos - 81 Points

Denver claims the top spot with a strong, balanced roster. Especially in the trenches.

Offense

  • QB: 6

  • RB: 6

  • WR1: 7

  • WR2: 7

  • WR3: 5

  • TE: 3

  • OL: 9

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 7

  • DT: 7

  • LB: 5

  • CB: 8

  • S: 5

Special Teams

  • K/P: 6

Why they rank here: An elite offensive line and solid secondary give the Broncos a well rounded roster. With elite top 2 wideouts, there are very few weaknesses.

2. Kansas City Chiefs - 73 Points

The Chiefs remain dangerous, but their overall roster grade shows some cracks.

Offense

  • QB: 9

  • RB: 7

  • WR1: 6

  • WR2: 4

  • WR3: 4

  • TE: 6

  • OL: 5

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 4

  • DT: 7

  • LB: 7

  • CB: 5

  • S: 4

Special Teams

  • K/P: 5

Why they rank here: Elite quarterback play carries this team (If Mahomes is back to 100%), but a lack of depth at receiver and inconsistencies on defense bring their total down.

3. Los Angeles Chargers - 68 Points

The Chargers have high end talent, but too many weak spots across the roster.

Offense

  • QB: 8

  • RB: 5

  • WR1: 4

  • WR2: 5

  • WR3: 3

  • TE: 5

  • OL: 5

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 6

  • DT: 4

  • LB: 3

  • CB: 5

  • S: 7

Special Teams

  • K/P: 8

Why they rank here: Strong quarterback play and solid safety depth stand out, but weaknesses at receiver and linebacker limit their ceiling.

4. Las Vegas Raiders - 62 Points

Las Vegas rounds out the division with clear strengths, but major gaps. This is still a work in progress perhaps 1-2 years away from the playoffs.

Offense

  • QB: 6

  • RB: 6

  • WR1: 4

  • WR2: 4

  • WR3: 3

  • TE: 9

  • OL: 6

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 5

  • DT: 3

  • LB: 5

  • CB: 5

  • S: 3

Special Teams

  • K/P: 3

Why they rank here: An elite tight end leads the offense, but defensive inconsistency and lack of depth across key positions keep them at the bottom.

Final AFC West Rankings

  1. Denver Broncos - 81

  2. Kansas City Chiefs - 73

  3. Los Angeles Chargers - 68

  4. Las Vegas Raiders - 62

Takeaway

Denver comes out on top as the most complete roster, but the Chiefs remain the biggest wildcard due to elite quarterback play. The rest of the division has talent, but too many holes to seriously contend right now.

Can anyone dethrone the Broncos this season? What do you think?
