Starter grades only The NFC South continues to be one of the most unpredictable divisions in the league. No powerhouse at all. Here’s how the rosters stack up after the draft.

1. Atlanta Falcons - 66 Points

Atlanta takes the top spot with the strongest offensive skill group in the division.

Offense

  • QB: 2

  • RB: 9

  • WR1: 8

  • WR2: 3

  • WR3: 2

  • TE: 7

  • OL: 6

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 4

  • DT: 5

  • LB: 4

  • CB: 3

  • S: 6

Special Teams

  • K/P: 7

Why they rank here: Elite running back play and strong top end weapons give Atlanta the highest ceiling, even with major questions at quarterback.

2. New Orleans Saints - 63 Points

New Orleans lands second with an average, balanced roster.

Offense

  • QB: 3

  • RB: 6

  • WR1: 7

  • WR2: 5

  • WR3: 2

  • TE: 5

  • OL: 5

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 6

  • DT: 3

  • LB: 5

  • CB: 6

  • S: 5

Special Teams

  • K/P: 5

Why they rank here: No glaring strengths, but no major weaknesses either. A steady, middle of the pack roster across the board.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 58 Points

Tampa Bay sits in third with defensive strengths but offensive inconsistency.

Offense

  • QB: 5

  • RB: 2

  • WR1: 5

  • WR2: 5

  • WR3: 2

  • TE: 2

  • OL: 6

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 5

  • DT: 7

  • LB: 4

  • CB: 4

  • S: 7

Special Teams

  • K/P: 4

Why they rank here: A strong interior defensive line and safety group stand out, but a lack of offensive firepower limits their upside.

4. Carolina Panthers - 56 Points

Carolina rounds out the division with a roster still in development.

Offense

  • QB: 4

  • RB: 2

  • WR1: 7

  • WR2: 2

  • WR3: 2

  • TE: 2

  • OL: 6

Defense

  • DE/EDGE: 7

  • DT: 4

  • LB: 6

  • CB: 6

  • S: 5

Special Teams

  • K/P: 3

Why they rank here: There are some promising pieces on defense, but too many holes on offense keep them at the bottom.

Final NFC South Rankings

  1. Atlanta Falcons - 66

  2. New Orleans Saints - 63

  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 58

  4. Carolina Panthers - 56

Takeaway

This division is wide open. Atlanta has the edge on paper, but no team has separated itself, making this one of the most unpredictable races in the NFL. Will the Panthers return to the playoffs to repeat as division winner? I'm not so sure..
